News of Edward's new recordings

Edward is in the studio next week recording potentially over 30 new pieces. The title of the new CD is as yet undecided but a couple of ideas are 'Morphogenesis' and 'Eternal Recurrence'. Some of the pieces feature polyrhythm and polyphasing; some are in free time; some use harmonics and some constantly slow their tempo.

The amazing Ben Capp will engineer (as he did with '12 Etudes') and Ben Dowden (BD Films) will be videoing the sessions.

Dates for recording new album

22nd- 25th October...

"I'm very excited about everything. I'm getting overwhelmed with ideas at the moment so some of it may be very fresh! Very interested to see how it will evolve."

11th July

Edward speaks about his new pieces...

“My new record will contain around thirty tracks - all of which are going on eternally, have never started and will never end. The listener visits these harmonic worlds for a short period of time…some will be as short as a minute, some as long as six minutes.

Of the thirty tracks, sixteen are based on polyrhythm; eight are in free time; four are in a style I've been developing, which I refer to in my notes as 'Q beats'; and two of the tracks slow down continuously while double speed lines continuously enter.

I am explicitly using eleven of my own mode groups but some others are fairly likely to turn up here and there.

Ultimately, there is no beginning or ending, only in the mind: I feel this is better communicated through music than words.”

1st July
